A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD

Jesus says, “Come to me and …”

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, NLT)

Who among us is not carrying a heavy burden if not our own someone else’s or both? Even those who think they aren’t carrying any burdens are carrying the burden of not having any burdens. That’s like saying you’re not thinking because you cannot not stop thinking because when you say you’re not thinking you’re thinking about not thinking, therefore you cannot not think! Now, are you thoroughly confused?

Burdens and the pains they inflict on us believe it or not are an important components of life because understood properly they become some of the things that mold and shape our lives. Author Steve McVey writes. “When you hurt, Jesus Christ grieves with you in your pain. Don’t make the mistake of believing that if God really cared, He would deliver you out of your painful situation. Remember that He didn’t even rescue Jesus from the cross as He suffered, because He knew its ultimate purpose—our salvation. God loves you so much that He won’t take away the pain if it serves a greater purpose in your life. Instead, He will walk the path of pain with you, and in the person of the Comforter (see John 14:16 KJV**) will sustain you each step of the way.” (Steve McVey, “A Divine Invitation,” Kindle Edition)

One of the greatest illustrations we can experience from the Easter Story is what God can do when we face and embrace our burdens just as Jesus faced and embraced the cross. I believe with all my heart that it is during the “resting period” when Jesus makes it possible for you to discover and experience that “God loves you so much that He won’t take away the pain if it serves a greater purpose in your life.”

The journey to the Easter is one of discovering, anticipating, and experiencing God not at work in the world but in your life. And once you discover and experience God at work in you you’ll discover a whole new world.

**“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;” (John 14:16 KJV)

Believe it! Experience it!

Grace and PEACE!

Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said.”
