A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD

The Story of the Bible…

“In the beginning God created,” is the first words in the Bible yet the story of the Bible does not start there. The story of the Bible did not begin when the writers first penned its words, nor did it begin when translators made it readable for us. It did not begin when scholars and theologians met to canonize it. It did not begin when the paper it is printed on was a tree growing from the earth, yet there are similarities. The story of the Bible did not begin when your copy was purchased. Through the powers of the Holy Spirit the story of the Bible begins the instant it is opened and read, the instant the words printed in ink become the words of God.

The Holy Spirit takes the story of the Bible beyond words and ink, chapters and verses, books and testaments to the very heart, mind, and will of God himself. The Bible is like the roots of a mighty oak tree reach deep in soil of our lives, and like branches and leaves reaching high into the sky as if to touch the sun. The story of the Bible goes beyond stories of how God touched the lives of people who lived long ago, it’s about how he touches lives right now, this very instant.

When you read the story of the fall of Adam and Eve their story becomes your story, for you have fallen too. When you read the story of Moses and the Israelite’s forty year trek through the wilderness in search of the promise land, their story becomes your story as you wander though life searching for God.

As story after story unfolds each becomes your story. When you read about Elijah becoming depressed and giving up you will say, “Yeah that’s me. I’ve been there.” And when you read a little further and discover how God lifts him out of his depression you’ll say, “Yeah, that’s what I want for me. Can you help me God?”

Read on and you’ll find yourself on sitting on a hill eating bread and fish blessed by Jesus. Next you’ll find yourself tossed about on a stormy sea, and you’ll think about the storms of your life. Then you’ll feel Jesus calming the storms at sea and the storms in your life. Turning page after page of the Bible will be like turning page after page of your life because with the turning of a new page will come a new you.

Every book ever written, every movie ever produced, every sermon ever preached, every article ever written about God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit had its beginning in the bible yet even the bible had it beginning in God. The bible isn’t a window where you can observe God, the bible is a doorway you can walk through and live with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

You cannot walk through a closed door!

Believe it! Experience it!

Grace and PEACE!

Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said.”

(John 20:19, NLT)
