A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD

Love sacrifices…

“Just as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have spoken these things to you in order that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be made complete. This is my commandment: that you love one another just as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this: that someone lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:9–13, LEB)

Through Jesus God set the standard upon which not only all relationships will either succeed or fail but even life itself. Of all the messages Jesus revealed to humankind one of the foundational one upon which we must base our lives is SACRIFICE. When I try to comprehend how much Jesus really loves me and how far he extended and extends himself I think John 3:17 should read, “For God did not sacrifice his Son for Gary that he should judge Gary, but in order that Gary will be saved through their sacrifice.”

In his famous discourse on love the apostle Paul wrote, “Love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous, it does not boast, it does not become conceited, it does not behave dishonorably, it is not selfish, it does not become angry, it does not keep a record of wrongs, it does not rejoice at unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:4–7, LEB) From that I believe we can draw the conclusion that “LOVE SACRIFICES”. God illustrated his love for me by sacrificing his Son for me. Jesus proved his love for me by standing in my place and accepting God’s judgments for me. God and Jesus continue to illustrate their love for me every minute of every day putting the Holy Spirit in me.

Jesus said, “No one has greater love than this: that someone lay down his life for his friends.” That does not always mean you need to step in front of a bullet or necessarily die on a cross for a “friend” it simply means when we say we love someone we are really saying, “I promise I will do all I can to meet your needs first.”

Believe it! Experience it!

Grace and PEACE!

Gary
