A Glory Seed Devotional

When the stone was rolled away the Door opened…

I am the gate. All who come in through me will be saved. Through me they will come and go and find pasture. A thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest.” (John 10:9–10, CEV) Jesus is those two verses gives us one of the most powerful, most insightful snippets of what his life was all about and what life is all about once we walk into God’s unfolding kingdom on earth.

Each time I think about what Jesus said about being “The Gate” I am automatically drawn to his prophetic words to John. “…I am the one who is holy and true, and I have the keys that belonged to David. When I open a door, no one can close it. And when I close a door, no one can open it. Listen to what I say. I know everything you have done. And I have placed before you an open door that no one can close. You were not very strong, but you obeyed my message and did not deny that you are my followers.” (Revelation 3:7–8, CEV)

I don’t think you’ll find words of encouragement more powerful than these 24 words, “I have placed before you an open door that no one can close… Through me they will come and go and find pasture.” I never noticed until this morning in John 10:9 Jesus said, “…they will come and go…” that was an “Ah Ha” moment for me suddenly I realized why at times I feel worldly and all the negative experiences that accompany it.

Along with the “Ah Ha” was the painful fact that Jesus knew everything I’d done and he knows there are times when I am not strong. For me one of the mysteries that haunt me are times when I fail to see my weaknesses, I know that sounds strange but the macho image of “when the going gets tough the tough get going” has a nice ring but in my case (how about yours) it usually ends in disaster. Probably the only way of dealing with our weaknesses is to admit them. When we feel the macho image sneaking up and pulling us in Paul has some encouraging words for us…

“…“My kindness is all you need. My power is strongest when you are weak.” So if Christ keeps giving me his power, I will gladly brag about how weak I am. Yes, I am glad to be weak or insulted or mistreated or to have troubles and sufferings, if it is for Christ. Because when I am weak, I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9–10, CEV)

By the way the story I quoted yesterday is now available on

Open your eyes to it! Experience it! Believe it! Be transformed by it!

Grace and PEACE, Amen!
