Jesus at the Pool of Siloam

Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise

Who society rejects Jesus accepts…

There have been more than a few times in my life when I’ve asked for help from someone only to be told I didn’t either qualify for help or was flat out rejected. One of the most devastating feelings a person can experience is rejection, it’s like having your heart ripped out. Rejecting someone is telling them they are valueless and not even worth a second look.

If you’ve ever been rejected then you know exactly what I am talking about. The following story illustrates that in spite of what people say Jesus does not reject anyone asking for help. It also illustrates there is value in every life. “Jesus was followed by a large crowd as he and his disciples were leaving Jericho. Two blind men were sitting beside the road. And when they heard that Jesus was coming their way, they shouted, “Lord and Son of David, have pity on us!” The crowd told them to be quiet, but they shouted even louder, “Lord and Son of David, have pity on us!” When Jesus heard them, he stopped and asked, “What do you want me to do for you?” They answered, “Lord, we want to see!” Jesus felt sorry for them and touched their eyes. Right away they could see, and they became his followers.” (Matthew 20:29–34, CEV)

Not only does it illustrate Jesus’ acceptance of those society rejects it also illustrates the blind men’s belief in their own value and their faith in Jesus’ compassion for them.

Jesus had compassion for them and touched them…

Write those 8 words deep in your heart and make them available for instant recall because if Jesus had compassion and touched them HE WILL DO SO TO YOU AS WELL! All you need do is ask and remember Jesus may not touch you when you want it to but HE WILL touch you at just the right time! That even comes with a guarantee, “That Holy Spirit is the guarantee that we will receive what God promised for his people until God gives full freedom to those who are his—to bring praise to God’s glory.” (Ephesians 1:14, NCV)

Anticipate! Experience! Believe! Be transformed!

Grace and PEACE, Amen!
