Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise

Seeing God’s World…

“I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you spiritual wisdom and revelation in your growing knowledge of him,—since the eyes of your heart have been enlightened—so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the incomparable greatness of his power toward us who believe, as displayed in the exercise of his immense strength.” (Ephesians 1:17–19, NET)

It is unfortunate we live in a gotta-see-it-with-my-own-eyes-world because the beauty of God’s world exists just beyond what our eyes can experience. Yet having said that when we are willing to extend our belief beyond what we see our eyes can become open windows into the fascinating and appealing world of God. Jesus speaking to his disciples on the night he was arrested told the disciples when they have trouble believing open their eyes to what he did and what he was doing. “Have faith in me when I say that the Father is one with me and that I am one with the Father. Or else have faith in me simply because of the things I do.” (John 14:11 CEV)

Rebecca Van Noord writing in the book Connect the Testaments: A One-Year Daily Devotional writes about our willingness and need to see with eyes of faith. “God chose to show mercy and healing to those who were unfamiliar with Him because they were willing to believe. They were willing to humble themselves to a point where belief was possiblE.” (Emphasis mine)

Every belief system needs a foundation to build on not matter what the belief system is if it be your employer, your favorite sports team, or in yourself, but especially in your belief in God. Jesus gives us the foundation for our belief in God’s unseen world. “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it isn’t looking for Him and doesn’t recognize Him. But you know Him, because He lives with you now and later will be in you.” (John 14:16-17 NLT)

This morning Jesus has a message for you, “… be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20, NLT)

Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed!

Grace and PEACE, Amen!
