Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise

Reflect! Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed

“You bless all of those who trust you, LORD, and refuse to worship idols or follow false gods. You, LORD God, have done many wonderful things, and you have planned marvelous things for us. No one is like you! I would never be able to tell all you have done.” (Psalms 40:4-5 CEV)

There are times when endings need to be beginnings! Today is one of those times! Now that we’ve began with the ending let’s end with the beginning… After reading the above scripture I hope you have no trouble understanding why I put the traditional ending (plus one) first. Let me say a few words about the ending which is now the beginning.

First of all you’ll notice each of them end with an exclamation mark and not a question mark. When you ask a question you do so for a couple of reasons – you don’t know the answer or you’re not sure about the answer so you ask for a confirmation. The Psalmist wrote, “You, LORD God, have done many wonderful things…” All you need to do is to look back over your life to see all the “wonderful things” God has done for you. For example I recall a time while I was laid off from work and every week like clockwork a money order would come in the mail always signed Your Friends.

Secondly, because God is ultimately committed to taking care of us there is no ending to God’s blessings only beginnings. I love the way the Message Translation presents 2 Chronicles 15:15, “The whole country felt good about the covenant promise—they had given their promise joyfully from the heart. Anticipating the best, they had sought God—and he showed up, ready to be found. God gave them peace within and without—a most peaceable kingdom!” (2 Chronicles 15:15, MSG, emphasis mine)

As I bring today’s message to the beginning for you. First think about what is depriving you of peace right now. Got it? Good, let these words begin a new work in you, “…and you have planned marvelous things for us.” Therefore, “Anticipating the best, they had sought God—and he showed up, ready to be found.”

Grace and PEACE, Amen!

Gary
