Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise

You’ve never tasted lemonade until you’ve tasted Jesus’ lemonade!

“Servants don’t know what their master is doing, and so I don’t speak to you as my servants. I speak to you as my friends, and I have told you everything that my Father has told me.” (John 15:15, CEV)

As servants we walk the dusty roads of the kingdom touching lives for Jesus but we are not Jesus’ servants, we are Jesus’ friends. Jesus’ words to his disciples, “I speak to you as my friends,” ring true for us as well. The relationship between servants and the served for the most part is a one sided relationship, the served are served by the servants. However, the relationship of friends cannot and must not be one sided friends help and support each other.

Author/Pastor Josh Kelly not only writes about our uniqueness in Jesus but also writes about his supportive role in our life. “By God’s grace, you are the lead actor in your story, a story that he wrote for you and no one else… He wants to work through your experiences, your failures, your strengths, and your weaknesses. He can do things through you, right where you are, that he cannot do through anyone else. God isn’t waiting for you to move to India to start working through you; he’s just waiting for you to rely on his grace.”[1] (Emphasis mine)

In short Josh Kelly is telling us because Jesus is our friend he takes the lemons life deals us and turns them into Lemonade. And the lemonade Jesus makes from your lemons isn’t sour it’s as sweet as sweet can be. Peter, too talks about lemons becoming lemonade as Jesus squeezes our lemons in his own hands. “Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.” (1 Peter 4:12–13, The Message)

Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed!

Celebrate!

Grace and PEACE, Amen!
