Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
Don’t do it for me LORD do it for yourself…
“But deal well with me, O Sovereign Lord, for the sake of your own reputation! Rescue me because you are so faithful and good. For I am poor and needy, and my heart is full of pain.” (Psalm 109:21–22, NLT)
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” (Psalm 34:18, NLT)
In spite of what the “world” says it is not a sin to be poor and needy, it does not mean you are a failure, it does not mean you are a loser, it simply means you have needs. One of the poorest and neediest things in the world is a candle without a flame. If you’re wondering where I am going with this I’ll get right to the point – YOU were once that unlit candle. But at some point in your life God set you aflame with the Light of Jesus. You followed his instructions to the letter, “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:15–16, KJV) And put your life on the line for him.
However, the cold harsh winds of life have taken their toll on you and your flame is nearly extinguished leaving you poor and needy. If that is where you are now there is good news – there is JESUS! And because, “He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle…” (Isaiah 42:3, NLT) Your flame will never go out! A great deal has been written and spoken about our purpose in life, why are we here, what’s our life all about. Jesus said it best when he said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Out of His LOVE for us God sends Jesus into our lives through the Holy Spirit to keep our wicks/flames burning bright for all to see God’s LOVE in its purest form. Then out of our LOVE for God it behooves us give ourselves completely to Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to keep our flames high for all to see.
God, I give my flame to you please keep it burning high for all to see, and don’t do it for me, do it for yourself!
BE strong in the LORD!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
