Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015 Year of Promise

The workmanship of God…

The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season. You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing.” (Psalm 145:14–16, ESV)

Man does not live on food for the stomach alone but by every tidbit and morsel of food from the Holy Spirit as well. That isn’t quite the way Jesus said it but it will be okay for this morning. While entire quote speaks volumes the standout portion for me is “…in due season…” in other words the LORD works at His own pace not ours. I’m not sure how patient of a person you are but I am not very good at seeing with my eyes of patience. “God, please let’s not worry about the small and in between stuff let’s get right to the blessing stuff!” I probably don’t need to ask you if you know how He answers that prayer do I?

I know that God isn’t time bound as we are so why does he make us wait for Him? The answer is simple – He wants us to learn patience. But why do we need patience after all we’re here today and gone tomorrow so as far as I am concerned patience only gets in our way. So why do we need patience? Again the answer is simple God does not measure things with clocks or calendars, and while He spent 33 years in a clock and calendar world He doesn’t any more and if we want to see God at work we need eyes of patience.

My life, your life is not reflected in a single moment. Our lives are reflected from before the womb until after the tomb. Without looking at our lives with the eyes of patience we’ll see our lives as broken and fragmentary. On November 4, 2013 I had a heart attack, I am not a heart attack, yet when I see my life with the eyes of patience I understand my heart attack to be a means of strengthening and deepening my faith journey. The same thing can be said of your life, every instant of pain, of joy, of brokenness, of healing, of doubt, of faith have gone into molding and shaping who you are.

God is hard at work in my life, in your life therefore let each of us see ourselves and each other through the eyes of patience because when we do we can then SEE and EXPERIENCE God’s work in our lives. WE ARE THE WORKMANSHIP OF GOD!

Be Strong in the LORD!

Grace to you and PEACE be multiplied,
