Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
Celebrating the Gifts of Christmas 2015…
Many of the Gifts given us by God did not come with Jesus’ birth yet it is through Jesus’ birth they come alive in you and in me. One such Gift we need to celebrate is the Gift of Prayer.
The apostle Paul not only a firm believer in Prayer but a constant user of Prayer wrote. “…do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6, ESV) On the surface a person may get the idea that Paul is comparing Prayer to a “blank check” speaking from much experience that person would be wrong. Very wrong!
In his book “Walking with the Savior” author Max Lucado writes, “Prayer is that whole process that reminds us of who God is and who we are. I believe there’s great power in prayer. I believe God heals the wounded, and that he can raise the dead. But I don’t believe we tell God what to do and when to do it.” Not only is Prayer a reminder of who God is and who we are it is also the Giftedness of Jesus who IS the means whereby we come into the presence of God. Which by the way you already know is the greatest Gift of all eternity!
There is one thing I know for sure the words you are now reading come as a result of many people praying for me over the 69 years of my life as recently as 1:00 PM Friday December 4, 2015 and beyond. I know as you reflect back on your life a lump will form in your throat as you search for a way to say thank you LORD, thank you my brothers and sisters.
In summary! “Our God comes with power to save us. Each of us can name what it is we long to be saved from. Today, let’s imagine ourselves freer. Throughout the day, let’s picture new ways of responding to challenging relationships, habitual sins, and other ruts we are in. As we envision our freedom we experience how much our God desires to save us.”**
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
