Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing
We are a blest people…
“Jesus looked at his disciples and said: God will bless you people who are poor. His kingdom belongs to you! God will bless you hungry people. You will have plenty to eat! God will bless you people who are crying. You will laugh!” (Luke 6:20–21, CEV)
I am not sure if you’ve noticed it or not but yesterday I changed the subtitle to: Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing. Jeremiah wrote that God’s word was like a fire in his bones and like Jeremiah not only is God’s word like a fire in my bones but also so are His blessings. Because I have some pretty serious health issues that are not going away some may scratch their head and say, “With a story like that God is blessing you?” In some ways God’s blessings are similar to an iceberg – what lies above the surface is nothing compared to what lies below the surface. Yes, God has blessed, is blessing, and will bless me.
You’ve no doubt heard the phrase “count your blessings name them one by one” I can understand the thought behind counting your blessings. However, as important and needed as the blessings are the One who Blesses is far more important. There are blessings I can name but I also know there are many blessings God has given me that lie hidden deep in my life that are nameless. I suspect you can say the same thing about yourself as well.
While I can’t be absolutely sure there’s a good chance the Lambs Book of Life mentioned in the Book of Revelation is NOT a score book. Instead, I see it as a individual biography about the interaction between the Divine and our lives. You’re in my story and I am in your story. I believe when it comes to blessings there are God direct blessings coming to us through the Holy Spirit and there are God inspired blessings coming to us through each other. You’re a blessing to me and I am a blessing to you.
Will 2016 really be a year of the Blessing? It already has been and I have it from a Good source it will continue to be just remember to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his undying love!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
