Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing

The Kingdom of God is like __________________…

“One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so He could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering Him. When Jesus saw what was happening, He was angry with His disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to Me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” (Mark 10:13-15 NLT)

Yesterday while on the floor playing with our great grandson Colton I discovered a great truth not only about how to live life fit for the Kingdom of God, but a lesson in what real love is about. Colton is 2 years old I will be 70 in June. Colton is in perfect health with my troubled heart, pulmonary fibrosis, type 2 diabetes, 2 artificial hips, prostate cancer my health is anything but perfect yet when Colton sees me none of that matters. He wants to be with me and wants me to play with him for who I am not because I’m pushing 70, it doesn’t matter if I am not in perfect health, or any other reason other than his love for me. When Colton comes running up to me calling out, “Papa, papa, papa,” all he sees is a playmate, someone he enjoys being with, someone simply loves being with him. In some mysterious way when the 2 year old in him touches the 2 year old in me I come alive.

Many times Jesus would start his lessons on the Kingdom of God by saying, “The Kingdom of God is like ________________________.” Yesterday I discovered: The Kingdom of God is like the relationship between a 2 year old great grandson and a 70 year old great grandfather. I love playing and wrestling with Colton just as much as he does. One of the greatest blessings God has given me is to maintain a youthful spirit even though I have a 70 year old aging body.

“Then He took the children in His arms and placed His hands on their heads and blessed them.” (Mark 10:16 NLT) It is my prayer that the 2 year old in me has touched the 2 year old in you! Be Blessed!

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might!

Grace and PEACE, Amen!
