Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing
Filled to the brim with Him…
A life filled with the Holy Spirit leaves no room for negativity arising from troubles. That doesn’t mean a life filled with Jesus becomes trouble free, it simple means there’s no place for the negativity associated with trouble to find a home. For example after casting out a demon Jesus said, “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order.” (Matthew 12:43-44, ESV)
The unclean spirit (trouble) is unable to rest is because there are no waterless places to be found. The Psalmist tells us there is no place the Spirit is not. “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.” (Psalms 139:7-12 ESV)
In addition to what the Psalmist tells us about the Spirit Jesus seals the fate of the unclean spirit (trouble). “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14, ESV) Therefore, since there are no “waterless places” the trouble tries to find a host but because the host too is filled with the Holy Spirit it finds itself homeless.
I am not sure what trouble is trying to find its home in you but before it does go to the Living Water and drink hearty and fill yourself to the brim with Him. “All you people who are thirsty, come! Here is water for you to drink. Don’t worry if you have no money. Come, eat and drink until you are full! You don’t need money. The milk and wine are free.” (Isaiah 55:1 ERV)
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
