Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing

The I will not abandon you God…

It never made sense to me that God would be the cause of adversity in our lives. I just couldn’t swallow the fact that God might be the cause of 12 hip surgeries, pulmonary fibrosis, heart surgery, heart attack, diabetes, and prostate cancer. On more occasions then I can remember I’ve asked myself why a God of love would put me through all that and more. However, over the past several months I’ve began to challenge my belief God wouldn’t place life-threatening adversities in my path.

Yesterday during my bible study time as I read the following scripture I had to stop and take a long in depth look at myself and my belief in what God is up to in my life. “For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love. For he does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow.” (Lamentations 3:31-33, NLT)

I believe God’s plan and goal for our lives is to depend totally on him. Now I am beginning to believe that He will take extreme measures to implement His plan in our lives so we can achieve the goal He has set for us. While I am still not 100% convinced God is the main cause because I continue to believe there are times when we must live out the consequences of bad choices. However, I also believe He allow adversities to invade our lives for the express purpose of building and deepening a relationship with us.

When I read, “For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever,” I felt a warm glow deep inside and I knew God was putting limits on every aspect of our lives from head to toe and everything in between. In my imagination I see Jesus drawing a line in the sand holding us back not allowing us to cross it nor does he allow anyone or anything to push us beyond it.

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!

GRACE and PEACE, Amen!

  1. Yes I think of the verse Know ye that the Lord he is God, it is He who hath made us and not we ourselves!! He will be forever purifying us through adversities and calling us to lean upon Him
