Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing

The Blessing in your heart…

“Many people say, “Who will show us better times?” Let your face smile on us, Lord.
You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.” (Psalms 4:6-8 NLT)

After search frantically for 10 minutes, a husband turns to his wife, “Have you seen my glasses, I laid them down and can’t remember where they are?” Trying not to laugh, “Did you think to look on top of your head?” While that scenario itself may be more fiction that truth the fact is there are times when what we search for lies not on our head but in our heart.

A man teetering on the edge of discouragement cries out, “Who will show us better times?” Almost instantaneously deep in his heart he senses the words, “The LORD’s face shines on you.” A woman caught in a fierce storm of the possibility of breast cancer wonders, “What will come of me?” Moments later amidst the howling wind, the clap of thunder a friendly voice whispers, “The LORD’s face is shinning on you,” and the power of peace envelopes her and the storm subsides. If you’re thinking those two scenarios are a product of my imagination you’d be wrong, they’ve come from my own experience with life.

When I first read this morning’s reading this part stuck out in my mind. “You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.” However, the more I thought about it I began to feel emptiness in my heart at first I was confused until my thoughts turned not to what I had but what “those who have abundant harvests” didn’t have, a relationship with the LORD.

The take away message we need to remember and the world at large needs is – “We / You need Jesus Christ in your heart because the blessing in your heart is greater than the blessing you’re reaching for.”

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!

PEACE be unto you, Amen!
