Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing

There is power and there is POWER!

PEACE be unto you!

We live in a world of power. It has been said that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely (or something like that). That may be true when it comes to the power generated by humanity but that is not true of the POWER generated by God. And even though there is no comparison between them they not only go hand-in-hand and heart-in-heart but they are also essential for living. You need your power to embrace all aspects of life such as, walking, running, working, playing, struggling. You need God’s power to love, to hope, to have joy, to overcome fear, conflict, prejudice, to remain steady in the face of adversities. One of the fascinating aspects of God’s POWER is its ability to turn the power of humanity from a destructive force into the power to co-create a better life.

The apostle Paul after being ignited by the POWER of God wrote, “I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 1:19-20 NLT)

From what Paul writes there are several things we need to understand. First and foremost it is GOD’s POWER NOT OURS. Second God makes it available FOR US WHO BELEIVE IN HIM. Third (and not final) it SPIRITUALLY LIFTS us out of the destructive powers that inhabit our lives.

The opening verses of Isaiah chapter 42 have come to be prophetic for those of us who believe. “Look at My Servant, whom I strengthen. He is My Chosen One, who pleases Me. I have put My Spirit upon Him. He will bring justice to the nations. He will not shout or raise His voice in public. He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. He will bring justice to all who have been wronged.” (Isaiah 42:1-3 NLT) I know the LORD is speaking specifically about Jesus however writing from experience Paul gives us further understanding about God’s POWER for us.

“Each time He said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT)

God’s POWER is at work in your life!

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!
