Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing

Have a little talk with Jesus…

PEACE be unto you!

What do you do when nothing else works?

I don’t know about you but I carry on a conversation Jesus! Quite often, while working out in the yard I’ll get talking with Jesus, “People will think you’re talking to yourself,” Patti will say to me. It doesn’t bother me one bit that He never answers me but if He did I would probably fall over. But as far as I am concerned the most important thing about our conversations is He hears me and He not only listens to me but He never gets tired of me.

There are times when what someone DOESN’T say is just as important as what they say. For instance Jesus said, “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NLT) In my imagination I picture myself sitting under a sprawling shade tree talking and Jesus just listening and hanging on my every word, there are times when I can even feeling him looking at me.

I’m not sure when I first started carrying on conversations with Jesus. For most of my life I’ve prayed (sometimes not as often as I should), but I remember one day at work during lunchtime I was in my office alone. I started praying about some burdens I was carrying when all of a sudden I wasn’t praying I was talking and addressing Jesus as if He were right there with me. And much to my surprise I knew He was listening, I can’t explain it to you I simply knew.

Since that day we’ve had hundreds of conversations some light hearted, some soul deep, I talked about things I’ve never told another human being, I’ve cried on His shoulder, I’ve talked about my fears, my doubts, my successes, my failures, my anger. And somehow in one of the greatest mysteries I’ve ever encountered Jesus has become just as real to me as you are. I’m looking forward to the day and time when I will actually hear Him, “Gary, you’ve talked enough let me talk for awhile.”

If you need Jesus to be real to you (and you do) then I suggest you begin talking to Him. Pour out your heart to Him holding nothing back His heart aches to hear from you. If you begin thinking you’re talking to yourself keep talking anyway He’s listening and the day will come when you’ll be able to feel His closeness!

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!

GRACE and PEACE,

Gary

  1. What a friend we have in Jesus, love that hymn and all it implies. I talk with Him too and though He does not answer I agree He is always listening thanks again
