Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing

God’s shadow…

PEACE be unto you!

Yesterday after sending out the Glory Seed titled “Have a little talk with Jesus” I received the following comment from “vann54” a faithful reader, “What a friend we have in Jesus, love that hymn and all it implies. I talk with Him too and though He does not answer I agree He is always listening thanks again.” I then went to her blog https://transcendingdarkness.wordpress.com/ and read her latest post titled “A Bump in the Road”. I wanted to comment on it but when I tried I my comment didn’t post then I decided to write a Glory Seed.

Her last paragraph starts out with this, “I have learned to be less fearful in the dark, to embrace it and to sit in it; not with comfort and ease, but with resignation that it is where I must be for the present.” Earlier I’d been reading about Mary’s encounter with the Angel Gabriel and the following verses suddenly came to mind. “Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and He will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:34-35 NLT) I found myself caught up in, “and the power of the Most High will overshadow you,” and my mind began racing.

I first saw the overshadowing of God as a spiritual experience whereby God and Mary encountered each other in a most intimate way. Then I thought about the possibility there are times when God’s shadow crosses our path and in that intimate moment the Light of Jesus prepares us for what let lies ahead for us. In my own life there have been times when praying, thinking about a scripture I read, listening to music, or hearing a sermon when I’ve become momentarily oblivious to my surroundings, could it be God’s shadow had crossed my path? Could that have happened to vann54? Could that have happened or is happening to you?

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!

GRACE and PEACE,

Gary

  1. Yes indeed God’s shadow – a cloud maybe even the araphel the. Loud of God, not to block our way though sometimes He does, but to make us sit, to be still and to listen and learn from Him. Thanks for reading my blog. And for this yet again wonderful post 🙂
