Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing
Thank God for Caregivers…
PEACE be unto you!
“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13 NLT)
One of the greatest vocations in our world today is that of a Caregiver! Caregivers are among the greatest unsung heroes in the world. I know that to be true because I find myself as a care-receiver married to a Caregiver. More often than not, our compassion goes out to those who are victims of a disabling condition (the Gary’s of the world) and those hard at work behind the scenes caring for us (the Patti’s of the world) for the most part goes unnoticed.
However, if you think for a moment that Caregiver’s go unnoticed or if as a Caregiver you’re under that impression you’d better think again. “…But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.” (Matthew 10:29-31 NLT) Not everyone is “cut out” to be a Caregiver, there are those who care and there are those who are willing to GIVE put aside their own agenda “roll up their sleeves” and live their lives in the shadow of someone in need.
Please allow me to get personal for a minute or two. While I continue to be mostly independent yet because of my diminished physical capacity there are things I was able to do a few years ago I cannot do today. One of the most important “things” I receive from my Caregiver Patti is the feeling I continue to be not only an important part of her life but life in general. Every day of the year should be Hug a Caregiver Day!
If there is one thing, Caregivers are not that would be super-human. It isn’t easy giving up one’s own life for another, to bury the hopes and dreams they’ve had for their own lives is sometimes overwhelming and they find themselves in an identity crisis. For those of you who are Caregivers you have a loving and forgiving Caregiver as well, his name is Jesus and because at times your needs exceed the needs of those you give care to. “…it was necessary for Him to be made in every respect like us, His brothers and sisters, so that He could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then He could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. Since He Himself has gone through suffering and testing, He is able to help us when we are being tested.” (Hebrews 2:17-18 NLT)
Life is difficult, without Caregivers and Jesus life is impossible, leaning on and depending on Jesus is the only answer to life’s difficulties!
Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!
GRACE and PEACE,
