Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing

Attitude… Attitude… Attitude…

PEACE be unto you!

“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.” (2 Corinthians 4:8–10, NLT)

There are times when the scriptures can be very trying. While I have no problem deepening my relationship with Jesus as far as I am concerned there should be an easier way of doing so. I remember from my school years once we took and passed the final exam in a class we moved on to the next class getting closer and closer to graduation. However, that does not work when God tests us. In the summer of 2011 He tested me with pulmonary fibrosis but it wasn’t a time limited test it has turned out to be timeless test worsening as time goes by. That’s one way of looking at this morning’s scripture but it’s the WRONG way!

Now let’s look at the scripture as it is meant to be understood, on the surface pulmonary fibrosis seems to be my testing ground however since pulmonary fibrosis is an intimate part of me and I pulmonary fibrosis it my the attitude toward pulmonary fibrosis that is the real test, pulmonary fibrosis is my proving ground. Does it take over my life to the extent I find an easy chair sit down and wait for the end or do I accept it, depend on my relationship with God and live a life as worthy of His love for me as I possibly can?

There’s no doubt pulmonary fibrosis will continue to knock me down but each time with the help of the Holy Spirit I will take Jesus’ hand he will lift me up and together we will keep-on keeping-on. That is my good news and there’s no doubt in my mind God has similar plans for you as well. I don’t know what will put your attitude to the test but I know this. “We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” (2 Corinthians 4:7, NLT)

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!

GRACE and PEACE,

Gary

  1. I read this particular scripture again this morning and sometimes I have felt between that rock and a hard place, but I was reminded that my attitude was wrong and that I was actually in the cleft of the rock , held there for protection and learning. Thank you for this reminder again that God is always with us to look up at unseen things and not at circumstances 🙂
