Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing

Relying on God…

PEACE be unto you!

For some admitting their reliance on someone else is nearly impossible but for those who have struggled with serious health conditions, or other situations such as financial difficulties it becomes a necessity. President John Kennedy once said, “Those who dare to fail miserably can achieve greatly.” I am sure President Kennedy was not suggesting that we set out expecting to fail miserably but he knew there will always be times when our efforts will fall far short it is then he is suggesting we surrender our weaknesses to eventual success.

Mahatma Gandhi provides us with the process of turning our failures into great achievements, “Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.” Gandhi was saying that where physical strength falls short we look inside ourselves and examine our real source of strength. For me Author Steve McVey in his book “Grace Walk” provides us with insight into our real source of strength. “For a long time I thought that to experience success in my Christian life, I had to work harder. But I discovered that the key to enjoying success is not strenuous work, but spiritual rest. This is a paradox in Scripture—we must rest while we work!” (Steve McVey, page 25 Grace Walk published by Harvest House Publishers)

Jesus sums it all up this way, “…Come me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”” (Matthew 11:28–30, NLT)

One of the greatest lessons we can learn from Jesus is his reliance on God. That has taught me when faced with difficulties I need to rely on God for the ultimate outcome. That does not mean I can sit back and say, “Okay God it’s up to you now.” Jesus was not suggesting we can sit back and wait for God to do everything for us.

Relying on God will not always change the “playing field” but it will assure you you’re never alone but are a part of an Undefeated Team.

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!

GRACE and PEACE,

Gary
