Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing

God reminders are everywhere!

PEACE be unto you!

“My heart is breaking as I remember how it used to be: I walked among the crowds of worshipers, leading a great procession to the house of God, singing for joy and giving thanks amid the sound of a great celebration!” (Psalm 42:4)

This morning upon going to the Sacred Space Daily Prayer Website* for today I read these words. “As I sit here, the beating of my heart, the ebb and flow of my breathing, the movements of my mind are all signs of God’s ongoing creation of me. I pause for a moment, and become aware of this presence of God within me.” Because of my troubled heart and reduced lung capacity I have become intensely aware of God’s presence and need for Him in my life more than ever before.

There are times when I find myself getting discouraged because of my shortness of breath and the racing heartbeat after walking short distances like out to our mailbox and back. However, my discouragement is short-lived and I find the words of verse 5 in Psalm 42 in “the beating of my heart, the ebb and flow of my breathing.”Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you…” (Psalm 42:5–6)

All of us have our own personal reminders of God’s constant presence in our lives. Mine is my loving and devoted wife Patti. Her words of encouragement and chastisement, her smile, her frown, her touch, her laughter, and her take charge attitude are all powerful reminders of God’s presence in the ebb and flow of my daily living. When I think of her the depth of her commitment to me I am reminded that, “…each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.” (Psalm 42:8)

It isn’t the “things of God” we need most, our greatest need and His greatest blessing is His presence in our daily living. Please take my word for it God gives us so many reminders of His loving presence in our lives all we need to do is to close our physical eyes and open up the eyes of our hearts.

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!

GRACE and PEACE,

Gary
