Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing
The Journey to Solitude…
PEACE be unto you!
“Be still and know that I am God…” (Psalms 46:10) Timely words spoken by God felt deep within the Psalmist and left for us. Wise words from a time far different than ours timely words for the helter-skelter times in which we move – live – and have our being.
In a world that speeds through life faster than a racing heart beat, in a world where life is moving faster than a speeding mind the journey of solitude seems so needed yet so far away. In lifestyles that have become meaningless and fragmented the journey to solitude seems so needed yet so alien. In lives that have become “powder kegs” ready to implode because of the stresses of life the journey of solitude seems so powerless.
The journey to solitude is the journey to a world far removed from hustle and bustle of life. It is a journey to a world of quietness, of tranquility, and of anticipation. It is a world with a population of four, Jesus Christ, God, the Holy Spirit, and you. It is a world where the hidden recesses of your thoughts are opened where time beats to the pulse of eternity. The journey of solitude is a journey through the pages of your life, it is journey where past, present, and future meet.
While journeying in the world of solitude you will come face to face with the person you once were, with the person you are, with person you have yet to become. You will be journeying into world where there is no weakness, no sickness. It is world where you can leave your burdens in Jesus’ empty tomb. A world you will never find rejection, only forgiveness.
Perhaps the journey of solitude will take you into the beauty of the great outdoors. Perhaps it will take you into a good book where you can escape the realities and pressures of life. Perhaps it will take you into the sanctuary of a church. Perhaps it will be writing in a journal. Perhaps it is going to a movie or a host of other activities.
Wherever you enter the world of solitude there may be voices that will try to distract and discourage you. Do not listen to them listen only to the soft voice of Jesus as he says, “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”” (Matthew 11:28–30, NLT)
Today is Memorial Day please take a few minutes in the world of solitude and think about those who gave their life defending our precious freedom.
Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!
GRACE and PEACE,
