Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing
I’m sure you’re familar with the saying, “If you want something done and done right then do it yourself.” That may be true in some circumstances but there are other circumstances where you need to throw that out and run with this. “If you want the impossible done and done right give it to God and wait for Him to do it.”
“Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.” (Psalm 127:1, NLT) Building houses is something we can (some of us with a great deal of help) do right. You can put at the top of the list of God gets-it-done-and-done-right things foundations of peace, love joy, hope, and forgiveness because without solid foundations everything falls apart.
Remember Jesus talking about foundations in the Sermon on the Mount? “But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” (Matthew 7:26–27, NLT) Notice Jesus’ use of the word “When” there’s no maybe about the coming of rains and floods is there? Foundations do nothing to prevent disaster’s all they can do is provide stability until storms and floods pass. In my own case (and perhaps yours) there are some storms that are ongoing forces requiring an ongoing relationship with Jesus.
Which brings me to the most important foundation of all (at least that’s how I see it) and that foundation is PRAYER. Many think prayer is talking to God about our needs, the needs of others, about offering our praise and thanksgiving, and it is but prayer is also a living connection with God. Don’t think of prayer as some do thinking of it as a telephone system where Jesus is kept on hold until needed. Instead Think of prayer as the power lines coming into your home supplying constant power. Prayer is how our relationship with Jesus is carried out.
Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!
GRACE and PEACE,
