Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing

Wonder no more…

Shalom!

I wonder why there are some scriptures that keep drawing me back to them. Today’s reading happens to be one of them and I am 120% sure the Holy Spirit has everything to do with it. If I am right (and I know I am) then My Friend (my name for the Holy Spirit) not only wants me to do something with it but has me and others in mind. If you are reading this than those others includes YOU! In addition to YOU are those who may not read this, some of them who come to mind are Ron, Jon, Alan, Penny’s family, Carol, Tim, Chuck, Linda, Bob, Dave and the Spirit says, “pray”.

When called upon by the Spirit to pray for someone one of the questions I personally face is – will my prayer make a difference in their life? Or – is God really listening to me? Or – was that really the Holy Spirit? Those questions arise in me especially when that someone doesn’t know I am praying for them. Enter the Holy Spirit and Mark 9: 23–24. “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:23–24, NLT)

How is it possible for me (or you perhaps) to believe and yet still have unbelief? Some take the position that having unbelief is a bad thing but that’s not me, I don’t rule out the possibility that it can be under some circumstances filled with negativity. However, when acted on positively (begin praying) I see unbelief as a way or “shoring” my belief. The questions above (and a whole lot of others) can be reduced to one simple question – do I believe Jesus when he says, “anything is possible if you believe in me?” It wasn’t that many years ago when my answer to Jesus was, “Jesus, I’m willing to take a chance on you.” That was then but now my answer is, “You better believe I believe in you Jesus, you’ve proven yourself to me so many times how can I not believe in you!”

And so I pray. In fact most of the time the Holy Spirit doesn’t even need to give me a reminder, but then every once in awhile I am drawn back to an old familiar scripture like Matthew 11:28. Not familiar with it? I suggest you look it up and get familiar with it ‘cause you need to do it more often than you can imagine.

I’m praying for you!

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!

GRACE and PEACE,

Gary
