Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing

There’s no need to fear, Jesus is here!

But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!”” (Matthew 14:27, NLT)

There are times when Jesus comes to us in unique ways. Shortly before the disciples were about to become shark bait they suddenly observed a ghost walking toward them. If I were in the boat I’d probably hollered out, “Don’t look know fella’s but here comes the Grim Reaper!” Turns out it wasn’t the Grim Reaper after all it was Jesus walking on the water!

Jesus has never come to me walking on water to save me. But He has approached me as a Heart Surgeon once. In 2013 I found myself in a storm and unseen to me the Grim Reaper was stalking me. I had one doctor tell me I didn’t need to worry about my blocked arteries. However, something prompted us to get a second opinion who told us the Grim Reaper was indeed stalking me. Ultimately Jesus approached me not as a ghost but as a Heart Surgeon and I’ll bet when the Grim Reaper saw him he ran away like the coward he is.

I know that may sound hard to believe, Jesus coming as the Head of Cardiac Surgery at St. John’s Providence Hospital but you’ll never convince me otherwise. I know Jesus didn’t suddenly take over Dr. Batra’s body but through the Holy Spirit Jesus interposes the ministry of the Spirit in our lives in ways and people we’ll never understand. Sure Jesus could have shown up himself and healed those four arteries and been done with it. But he didn’t, he chose to disguise himself and save me through conventional means.

The take-away point I want to make is this: Take courage you are not alone. Jesus knows you. Jesus accepts you. Jesus lives for you. Jesus blesses you! Jesus is your strength!

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!
