Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing…

Pray while waiting quietly before God…

Shalom!

The comment was made in our adult Sunday School Class yesterday by our teacher that it has been a long time since he could remember the divisiveness in our country. “I am afraid for our country,” he said. I read on a Facebook post where the Pope stated that the world was at war but it wasn’t a religious war. The Pope’s statement was countered with the statement that there was a religious war going on pointing out the recent terrorist attacks throughout the world.

I don’t know about you but I too am concerned about our country and other countries around our world. I say concerned and not I am afraid because I believe God is still in control. Do I know why terrorism and the degradation of human worth seem to be running rampant? No, I don’t. I have my own ideas but there are mine and are out of context in this setting. While I really do not have a solid answer why things are I also really do not know why God remains silent. However, I do know not only is God still at the “helm of history” but just because He is silent does not mean He is standing idly by either.

There are many prophecies in the bible that people use to describe the days we are in right now and they can point out some pretty good arguments to support their position. And far be it for me to try and disprove or downplay any of them because I believe Isaiah when he prophetically writes, “…My thoughts are not like your thoughts. Your ways are not like my ways. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8–9, NCV)

There is one scripture I would like to share with you that in addition to praying for our country, world, and ALL people in it tells us what we can and must do today and everyday. “Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.” (Psalm 62:5–8, NLT)

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!

GRACE and PEACE,

Gary

  1. Perhaps since we are in a broken world with broken candidates, perhaps it is a sign that we are to return, or turn to the only one who is in control. I use the verse” you are my rock and salvation” quite a lot these days for it does seem that things are ramping up and is saddens me but joy is found in the Lord thanks for your words and thoughts today
