Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing…
Words, words, words…
“Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord. They rejoice all day long in your wonderful reputation. They exult in your righteousness. You are their glorious strength. It pleases you to make us strong.” (Psalm 89:15–17, NLT)
When you hear or see the word worship what comes to your mind?
One of the beauties of the human mind is the awesome fact that it allows us to see words. I am not talking about seeing the letters that comprise a word I mean when we read a word a picture forms in our minds. For example what image forms in your mind when you read the word RED? A red sun? A red fire truck? A red barn? A red marker? A red stoplight? Not only do words form images in our minds but they also elicit feelings or emotions. The reverse is also true there are images, feelings, or emotions we experience that form words in our minds.
Words create a link between what our five senses experience and our mind process. Perhaps one of the reasons there is unrest, negativity, or hatred in the lives of people today is when confronted with images, feelings, or emotions for which for there are no words the mind either begins searching for a word that’s not there yet, eventually leading them to create their own false assumption. Remember this proverb? “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” (Proverbs 22:6, NLT) The same can be said about giving a solid and truthful vocabulary the informative years of our young people. Keeping in mind it is easier to teach a young person then to un-teach then teach an older person. I am grateful to my mom and dad for providing me a Godly Foundation upon which to build my life. Even though I spent what seemed like 40 years wandering in the “wilderness” the Foundation given me through my parents and the Holy Spirit provided me “solid ground words” such as God, Jesus, love, faith, hope upon which to wander.
I began today’s Glory Seed by asking you what comes to mind when you encounter the word WORSHIP. There was a time when I encountered worship I pictured myself on Sunday morning sitting in a pew in a church singing hymns, listening to prayers, hearing a sermon, giving my tithing. That was then but this is now. Worship isn’t sitting in a church on Sunday morning, it’s remembering the many blessings God has given us, it’s acknowledging our need to deepen and expand our relationship with Him. It’s dropping to our knees as we re-experience the times when He has been present with us on our life’s journey.
Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!
GRACE and PEACE,
