Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing…

A modern day Good Samaritan story…

Shalom!

“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” (Matthew 6:31–34, NLT)

If you’ve ever questioned the validity of the scriptures question no more. I am about to testify of their validity. “Click! Click! Click! Dead silence!” You’ve heard those ominous sounds that come from under the hood of your car in response to a dead battery. For the second time in less than a week we’ve heard them. Sunday Bonnie and Jon Teeple and my wife Patti piled into our car bowed our heads and asked God for safe travel turned the key in our car and… “Click! Click! Click! Dead silence!” After making a quick 6:00 AM trip to a 24 hour department store for jumper cables we were on our way.

Fast forward to Wednesday August 10th about 9:45 AM we piled into the car headed to town to celebrate Bonnie and Jon’s 42nd Wedding Anniversary but then… “Click! Click! Click! Dead silence!” That’s when God got involved Jon flagged down a sent our way local resident turned Good Samaritan who just happened to be going into work late and stopped long enough for us to connect my jumper cables to his battery. I climbed in turned the key and the car came to life. Thank you Jon. Thank you Good Samaritan. Thank you God.

But God didn’t stop with the blessings there. After following the directions to the Maryville Firestone Store we were told the battery in our car was bad, “$175.00 to fix it,” the Firestone clerk told us. Because I was wearing my Viet Nam Veteran hat, “Are you ex-military?” he asked. I told him yes. “Then I’ll give you our military discount. Your bill is $157.00. And thanks for your service,” he replied. Then around 11:30 AM we were back in our car headed to celebrate a 42nd Wedding Anniversary. Thanks Firestone and Firestone clerk. Thanks God, Jesus was right You are the ultimate pre-planner.

Whether you realize it or not God is already getting things and people in place for some future need of yours. Want to see it happen? Then follow Jesus’ simple advice, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously…”

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!

GRACE and PEACE,

Gary
