Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing…

Living Foundations for a Spirit Filled Life…

Shalom!

Lately on Facebook I’ve seen a lot references to Philippians 4:13, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13, NLT) Have you ever wondered where Paul got the idea that he could indeed do all things through Jesus? I didn’t, I don’t know why it just never occurred to me to look into where and who taught Paul the things he taught and wrote. This morning I learned something very important about Paul and myself.

Long before Paul was ever born the Psalmist wrote, “You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall. God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.” (Psalm 18:28–30, NLT) Paul was believing and living on a foundation he constructed out of what he learned in the Old Testament and when he took the Psalmist at his word the Holy Spirit taught him firsthand God, the Ultimate Power Source could be trusted.

I believe Paul was a brilliant and inspired man. I also believe every brilliant and inspired man or woman has the same source of power Paul did, and when their power source is God, the Ultimate Power Source EVERY person has the potential of bring brilliant and inspired. Now when I read, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13, NLT) I can believe it’s possible because I know it was possible in Paul’s life because Paul knew it was possible in his life because the Psalmist knew it was possible in his life because God gave him the power to live a Spirit filled life.

The Psalmist lived a life of faith. Paul lived a life of faith. We live a life of faith. And OUR life of faith is based not on ourselves or even on each other even though belief may begin with ourselves or each other belief becomes faith only through God, the Ultimate Power Source. Let’s give living a life of faith a title, “A Succession of Living Foundations for a Spirit Filled Life” that may help us understand it better.

Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!

GRACE and PEACE,

Gary
