Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing…
About not giving up…
“…and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).” (Matthew 28:20, AMP)
Have you ever wanted to give up? I don’t mean giving up on life, I mean giving up on living. What’s the difference? It is out of our parents love for each other we have life, Jesus tells us, “It is the Spirit that gives life.” Life is what we have; life is a beating heart, brain activity, the ability to think, to feel. Living is our response to life, living is what we do. In many ways we are defined not only by life but by living in response to the world around and in us.
I believe it is possible to give up living yet still have life. And when it comes to actually giving up living there are at least two distinct reasons, voluntarily and involuntarily. For example because of pulmonary and cardiac concerns I had to give up long distance bike riding. Although I did not want to give them up it became necessary if I wanted keep some sort of quality of life. If you’ve ever given up something you loved doing (and I sure you have) then you know involuntarily giving up is a very painful and filled with the uncertainty of what-if’s.
Voluntarily giving up includes not only the involuntarily aspect (because giving up is always a choice) but also giving up out of frustration that come with the 3D’s (Discouragement, Disappointment, and Disconnectedness). I understand this aspect/reason to be the most dangerous not in terms of physical danger (although that may be a factor) its danger lies in our mental and spiritual wellbeing. Giving up because of the 3D’s will not only alter who and what we are it will also undermine our self-confidence and the foundation upon which our life rests.
Right now there are those reading this who have been battling the 3D’s for quite awhile and the option of giving up living is becoming more and more a way out of the stress and weariness of the battle. I know the negative power that comes with the extended battles life can thrust upon us and more importantly so does the LORD, therefore believe, trust and put your faith in His love and compassion and, “And there shall be stability in your times, an abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the reverent fear and worship of the Lord is your treasure and His.” (Isaiah 33:6, AMP)
Believe in presence of the GOD and in the strength of his GRACE!
GRACE and PEACE,
