Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing…

I found God in a traffic jam…

Shalom!

Yesterday morning I drove our grandson Dylan to the Greyhound Bus Depot in Detroit. We were making great time until we got within 10 miles of our destination when all of a sudden all we saw were red brake lights. Rats! A traffic jam. It took us 24 minutes to go the last 10 miles. I knew Dylan was getting worried we were not going to make it on time and to be honest I kept glancing at the clock as well, boarding began at 7:20 AM we arrived at 7:14 AM (thank you LORD).

At one point when the traffic came to a complete stop I began thinking about how life and traffic flow have a couple of things in common. Both have a life of their own. Traffic flow is… Sometimes fast. Sometimes slow. Sometimes stop. Sometimes go. Yesterday we would pick up speed and drive the speed limit then suddenly we would come to a dead stop.

That’s the way my life has gone… Sometimes fast. Sometimes slow. Sometimes stop. Sometimes go. There have been times when I’ve got up to speed when either a hip would go bad, or my heart would go bonkers, or pulmonary fibrosis would kick the air out of my lungs, or some other problem would come along. Then screech! When the dust settled I was at a complete stop! But all my screeching halts have been short because the Holy Spirit was always there to jump start my journey again.

Does that scenario have a familiar ring? If it does read on… If it doesn’t read on the day may come when it will…

“The LORD will lead you. He himself is with you. He will not fail you or leave you. Don’t worry. Don’t be afraid!” (Deuteronomy 31:8 ERV)

“The LORD will not leave his people. He will not leave them without help.” (Psalms 94:14 ERV)

“The poor and needy look for water, but they cannot find any. Their tongues are dry with thirst. I, the LORD, will answer their prayers. I, the God of Israel, will not leave them to die.” (Isaiah 41:17 ERV)

“Keep your lives free from the love of money. And be satisfied with what you have. God has said, “I will never leave you; I will never run away from you.” (Hebrews 13:5 ERV)

My favorite is Deuteronomy 31:8 ERV. Which one is your favorite, or do you have another one?

“God, show mercy to us and bless us. Please accept us! Selah

GRACE and PEACE,

Gary
