Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing…

LORD do in me…

“Years ago Jack Taylor taught me (James Ryle) to pray, “Lord do in me anything You need to do, so You can do through me everything You want to do!” I highly recommend this prayer to you. The Lord will not fail to answer it thoroughly.” (Rylisms, 11/07/2016)

As important as it is to use the prayer James Ryle suggests we use without thinking of the consequences it can be a real test of faith. What is so challenging is not what God will do in us, but where it will do it. For Jesus it was 40 days in the wilderness. For Paul it was 3 days of blindness. For me it was 6 hours in an operating room September 17, 2013. How long and where has it been for you? Has it been for minutes or years?

God is the great equipper, doing His best work in the most unlikely places, using the most unlikely blessings. For Jesus it was the cross and the tomb. For Paul it was a basket over a wall. For me it is good strong heart working with 4 completely blocked coronary arteries. What about your experience in unlikely places of unlikely blessings?

We are cautioned to be careful about using bible verses out of context but every once in awhile one comes along that is a perfect fit for something other than what it was originally written for. Isaiah 28:10 is one such scripture and since I am using it out of context I will let you have the final say whether it is a good fit or not. I’ve never heard a sonic boom when it comes to God working in me so I do everything He wants to do, instead it’s been, “…it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.” (Isaiah 28:10 ESV)

I’ll let Peter have the final word. “My friends, don’t be surprised at the painful things that you are now suffering, which are testing your faith. Don’t think that something strange is happening to you. But you should be happy that you are sharing in Christ’s sufferings. You will be happy and full of joy when Christ shows his glory.” (1 Peter 4:12-13 ERV)

When your world is in dumps

And you’re dangling at the end of your rope

It is only the wise who takes a leap and jumps

Into the arms of the One who is HOPE!

“God, show mercy to us and bless us. Please accept us! Selah
