Glory Seed Devotionals, 2016: Year of the Blessing…

Words of encouragement from the Jehovah-Raah…

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.” (Psalm 138:7–8, ESV)

In the summer of 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain Derek Redmond had qualified for 400 Meter race with the fastest time and was on his way to win a Gold Metal. At some point during the race Derek pulled up lame with a torn hamstring and rather than quit he began slowly and painfully he began limping toward the finish line.  Then suddenly Derek’s father step out of the sideline encouraged his son and helped him finish the race to a standing ovation.

I suspect you’ve already figured out where I am going with this after all you know that is what God did for us when he sent Jesus into our world. And you already know upon His return to heaven Jesus sent the Holy Spirit into the world to take His place. The Holy Spirit working on behalf of Jesus is not only the ultimate symbol of encouragement but also the ultimate source as well.

Like Derek Redmond’s father when you pull up lame Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to encourage you, to strengthen you, and to carry you if you need carrying. There are three things you need to do have faith, believe, and keep hobbling until either the Holy Spirit arrives, or Jesus sends someone else.

There are no more powerful encouraging words in the entire bible then these. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” Psalm 23:4-5 (ESV) Jesus has already been through your shadow of death valley and has sent the Holy Spirit to you to help you get through it yourself!

May your focus be on Jesus and may the Holy Spirit nurture and grow the Seeds of Blessing planted in you this day.

  1. Happy thanksgiving , I needed this message sometimes the holidays can be intense and I needed to hear the words of peace, comfort and Thanksgiving may you have a blessed holiday

  2. I know what you mean holiday’s can come with a lot of baggage. Thanksgiving is especially difficult for me because of all the things I don’t have seem to come to the surface. I KNOW the Holy Spirit will be with you and your family not only through tomorrow but throughout this Holiday Season as well. Shalom my friend! –Gary
