Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh…
Let the celebration begin!
Must we always wait on God for prophetic words to have a positive impact on our lives or can we under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit apply them to our lives during the present time? I realize I am opening what may be a “can of worms” because they are controversial. I believe there are some prophecies that only apply to the “end times” and there are some that can apply to the “now times,” so long as they have the blessing of the Holy Spirit.
Take for instance these words from chapter 3 of Revelation. “I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown. All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of my God, and they will never have to leave it. And I will write on them the name of my God, and they will be citizens in the city of my God—the new Jerusalem that comes down from heaven from my God. And I will also write on them my new name.” (Revelation 3:11–12, NLT) Is it not true that Jesus has already made an appearance in our lives through the Holy Spirit? Sure, there are other prophecies that tell us at some unknown date he will make a grand earth shattering/changing appearance but until then he has also promised us he would never leave us alone.
I remember last summer watching a Detroit Tiger baseball game in which the Tigers were losing going into the bottom of the ninth inning. The bases were loaded and as the batter (I can’t remember who it was now) stepped up to homeplate all eyes focused on him. Seconds later the ball was headed for the seats in right field for the game winning grand slam home run, and even before the ball cleared the fence the batter, the base runners, the fans in the stands were celebrating the victory.
That true life scenario reminds me of what John wrote about being victorious, All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of my God, and they will never have to leave it.” Once we identify ourselves with Jesus we also identify ourselves with his victory as well, with Jesus we’ve hit a grand slam home run and need not wait until the victory is complete to celebrate it. One of the most powerful “now times” prophecies ensuring we are already victorious found in chapter 5 of Romans. “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” (Romans 5:8, NLT)
I believe Revelation 3:11-12 are prophetic words for our now times as well as end times because Jesus cautions us, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NLT) And because Jesus has overcome the world we can to!
Let the celebration begin!
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”**
