Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh…

God’s grace is all we need…

Shalom!

“Your God has decreed your strength. Show Your strength, God, You who have acted on our behalf.” (Psalm 68:28, HCSB)

When I think about my own life and try to fit it into how life is viewed in today’s world it doesn’t fit. It seems that we live in world that is constantly seeking physical perfection. We need the perfect body with perfect health. We need the perfect car, the perfect home, the perfect vacation, the perfect education, the perfect career. And when I put myself (or try to) in context of today’s “physical perfection complex” I fail. If someone were to ask me what God has done for me I would be the frail little guy standing on the street corner trying to explain why God had not looked favorably on me.

If that has a familiar ring to it and the idea that God has not looked favorably on you because of your frailty or something else that is missing in your life that’s not so! Instead of an inferiority complex we need a Paul complex. ”…Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me. So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, catastrophes, persecutions, and in pressures, because of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9–10, HCSB)

The last day or so the words, “Gary, you can give up a lot of things but don’t give up your faith,” have been running through my mind. Then when I read this morning, “Your God has decreed your strength,” I suddenly realized why the Holy Spirit has been hammering them in. I’ve written on the 3D’s (Discouragement, Depression, and Disconnectedness) many times yet for some reason they seem to be able to sneak in on me and disrupt my life.

For someone caught up in seeking physical perfection this will not make a whole lot of sense but God is seeking those who He can illustrate His strength in and through. LORD, take our frailties, take our brokenness, take our weaknesses and “Show Your strength, God, You who have acted on our behalf.”

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”**

GRACE and PEACE,

Gary
