Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh…

Can you do it? Yes you can!

Shalom!

“God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect. He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights. He trains my hands for battle; he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow. You have given me your shield of victory. Your right hand supports me; your help has made me great. You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping.” (Psalm 18:32–36, NLT)

One of the final scenes in the movie Forest Gump shows Forest and his new wife riding off for their honeymoon as the drive away one of the characters calls out, “You can do it all night long!” I hope the writers of the movie don’t mind me borrowing a part of that line because it is timely for each of us at this juncture in our lives. Because of God’s intimacy with us “We can do it all life long!” Do what all life long you may be wondering. The answer is really quite simple because of the Holy Spirit we can live the abundant life Jesus promised us, the abundant life according to God’s standards not ours.

How does God define the abundant life? “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him…God blesses those who mourn… God blesses those who are humble… God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice… God blesses those who are merciful… God blesses those whose hearts are pure… God blesses those who work for peace… God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right…” (Matthew 5:3–10, NLT, shortened version) Add these two, God blesses those who love him with all they have and are… God blesses those who love their neighbor as themselves. Incorporating them into your life may not put you on Easy Street but they will see that you live the Abundant Life God promises you!

And when it comes to God’s promises listen to what the Spirit says to the LORD’s People (you)… “God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.” (Hebrews 6:17–19, NLT)

If you’ve somehow gotten the idea God’s promises are for someone else and not you get that idea out of your heart/spirit/mind because it is beating you down!

“Faith isn’t hoping for the best life has to offer, Faith is anchoring oneself to the Best God has to offer!”

Grace and PEACE,

Gary
