Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh…

Walking in the Spirit…

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” (Galatians 5:16–18, NIV)

There is more to those 3 verses than meets the eye! But then that is the case with all the word of God. When put in context with neighboring verses the verses above are addressing. ”…sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19–21, NIV)

However (for me), there are times when reading/studying the bible I come across a verse or a block of verses able to stand on their own, shedding light on other aspects of life. Verses 16, 17, and 18 fill that bill. In 1981 I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis a Neuromuscular Disease that progressively weakens the muscles making their recovery very slowly. At the time I was not dealing well with the changes taking place in me and I didn’t want to give in so I tried to “gratify the desires of my flesh” and kept trying do the things I could no longer do, it didn’t work the disease finally won out. In a conversation with Patti shortly after I surrendered to the disease she told me to accept the fact our lives were changing and we needed to get on with the way things were.

I was reminded of that experience when I read verses 16, 17, and 18 yesterday. Shortly after our 1981 conversation I reconciled myself to the truth Patti was telling me and suddenly I started realizing because of the “MG” I was growing spiritually by leaps and bounds. It was then I realized the Spirit had been walking with me all along, from that day on I began walking in the Spirit through 12 hip surgeries, heart surgery, a heart attack, pulmonary fibrosis, prostate cancer, and diabetics. When we walk/live in the Spirit unlike the lemons that turn into the bitter/sour lemonade when walking/living in the flesh become the sweetest/heavenly lemonade you’ll ever taste this side of heaven.

Want some of the sweetest/heavenly lemonade you’ll ever taste this side of heaven? Then take the hand and heart of the Holy Spirit and get all you want from God’s Heavenly Lemonade Stand! And enjoy!

“Faith isn’t hoping for the best life has to offer, Faith is anchoring oneself to the Best God has to offer!”

Grace and PEACE,
