Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh…

Being Upbeat in a Downbeat World…

“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. My soul is cast down within me; therefore I remember you from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.” (Psalm 42:5–6, ESV)

We live in a divided land defined by an invisible line I call the Positivity and Negativity Line. North of the line is the Land of Positivity, South of the line is the Land of Negativity. I am writing today’s Glory Seed from south of the line, from the Land of Negativity. There are times when the LORD allows us, even pushes us south of the line into the Land of Negativity for at least three reasons. First, to remind us of our constant need for His presence in our lives. Second, so we can tell/warn others to take time to prepare themselves for the time when they will be south of the Line. And third for those already there to give them Hope and help them find their way north.

As you can see from the scripture reading above the Psalmist spent his share of the time south of the Positivity and Negativity Line as well. As did the Prophet Elijah after defeating 750 prophets of Baal. And joining them was Peter after denying Jesus. I am sure if you had a chance to ask them if they enjoyed their stay south of the Line and wanted to make a return trip I suspect they’d tell you NO. I’m not enjoying myself either down here and I really don’t look forward to return trips. However, when the return trips do come I have learned to embrace them because out of them come strength, stronger faith, deeper trust, deeper commitment, and last but not least lemonade out of the lemons of life.

Buried within the two verses above is a diamond in the rough mined and given to us by the Holy Spirit. “Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.” In spite of the crushing blows that sent David south of the Positivity and Negativity Line he found hidden deep in his heart God’s own Hope Diamond with the help of the Holy Spirit he cut and polished it and now gives it freely to those who believe on the LORD Jesus Christ.

The Prophet Isaiah writing years after King David wrote about God’s Hope Diamond drawing us back across the Positivity and Negativity Line. “Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” (Isaiah 42:9, ESV) And concerning those “new things” Isaiah is talking about, you’ve just been told their coming! Have patience and wait on the LORD the Upbeat you will be making a trip up north!

“Faith isn’t hoping for the best life has to offer, Faith is anchoring oneself to the Best God has to offer!”

Grace and PEACE,

Gues that what that old saying means ” when things go south” . Those “southern” times are indeed hard, press into the word know that He is with you He will not leave nor forsake you, do take care and have vitamin d checked. I have learned on my journey this is a vital part for the brain and helps with lifting the line back North.
