Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh…
Make room for God…
“Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God! Fill in the valleys, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places. Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. The Lord has spoken!”” (Isaiah 40:3–5, NLT)
God may not come when we want him to but He’s always on time! You’ve read it on several occasions but I hope you’re not tired of reading it because it is so important to us. As important to us as it is there’s something else that actually may be more important than God being on time – making ourselves ready for the blessings God will bring with him when he makes his grand entrance just at the right time.
The 3 verses in chapter 40 of Isaiah above can be reduced to 4 words. MAKE ROOM FOR GOD! If those 3 verses have a familiar ring it’s because John the Baptist quoted them to the religious leaders when they questioned him. “Make room for Jesus,” John preached!
John the Baptist called people to repentance, repentance is the process of making room for God. When we repent of the things that have separated us from God we are telling God we no longer need those things at the sam timw we are also telling Him how much we need him. We spend most of our lives seeking to be independent only to eventually discover independence is like grabbing a hold of a hand full of water.
Take a few moments and reflect on your life right now. Are you struggling with difficulties by yourself? Are you struggling with a broken or weakening relationship? Are you struggling with financial brokenness? Are struggling with health issues? Are you struggling with self doubt? Are you asking God for help with your struggles? Are you struggling with them on your own? Remember the phrase “God helps them that help themselves” the only way we can really help ourselves is to turn to God and totally depend on him and when we do we are blessed totally. “Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes. He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.” (Isaiah 40:10–11, NLT)
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” (2 Corinthians 13:14, ESV)
