Glory Seed Devotional’s, 2017: Anticipating and Experiencing Jehovah-Jireh…

Encourage! Encourage! Encourage!

Speaking out of my own experience one of the greatest needs we face is encouragement, encouragement, encouragement!

“For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9–11, NLT)

One of the most significant record of acts of blessing Jesus completed in his short life took place on a beach following his resurrection. Days earlier Peter had done the unthinkable he denied knowing Jesus not just once but three times. Peter, the only one who had enough faith in Jesus to walk on water him said, “I do not know him.” Peter, the only one who came to Jesus’ defense by wielding a sword flat out denied knowing Jesus, Peter the rock became Peter the marsh mellow! But Jesus had not intention of leaving him a spongy white ball of sugar, instead Peter would become not only a rock again but this time “the Rock of Gibraltar”.

Encourage! Encourage! Encourage!

Peter’s marsh mellow to rock story goes like this. “After breakfast Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these others?”“Yes,” Peter replied, “you know I am your friend.”“Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him.Jesus repeated the question: “Simon, son of John, do you really love me?”“Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I am your friend.”“Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.Once more he asked him, “Simon, son of John, are you even my friend?”Peter was grieved at the way Jesus asked the question this third time. “Lord, you know my heart; you know I am,” he said.Jesus said, “Then feed my little sheep.” (John 21:15–17, The Living Bible)

Encourage! Encourage! Encourage!

Jesus was telling Peter to do what my dad told me the first, second, and third time I fell off my two-wheeler, “Get up! Dust yourself off! Get back on and ride!” Like Peter after getting up three times, dusting myself off three times, getting back on three times I rode off never to fall again.

Smile and celebrate you you’ve been… Encouraged! Encouraged! Encouraged!

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.” (2 Thessalonians 3:16, NLT)

Grace and PEACE,
